Meet Drew Bales
Drew is an Integrative Manual and Movement Therapist. He is a second generation Licensed and Board Certified Massage Therapist, Certified Personal Trainer and Certified Life Coach. Beginning his career as a Personal Trainer in 2003, Drew quickly saw the need for higher education and skill sets while working with his client's. He was drawn to discovering the route causes to pain and dysfunction as a platform to heal and advance human performance; Fascia.
Drew grew up with a sister with advanced spastic cerebral palsy and a mother who was a Licensed Massage Therapist and Hospice Employee. His childhood experiences were the inspiration and motivation to drive him towards his career. Drew studied psychology at the University of Arizona for 2 years before moving back to Chicago to begin his career as a manual and movement therapist in 2002. He obtained his first Certification as a Personal Trainer in 2004 from the International Sports Science Association. He attended the prestigious Chicago School of Massage Therapy graduating summa cum laude in 2007 . He achieved the highest accreditation in the massage industry as a BCTMB, Board Certified Massage Therapist. He served as one of the first Ambassadors to Lululemon with a one-year contract in 2007. In 2011-2014 he served as a volunteer collaborating with Illinois State Representative LaShawn K. Ford of Chicago's 8th District to design and run the exercise modules for the Martin Luther King Health Fair. The Health Fair served as an interactive, educational campaign for middle school students in Chicago's West Side community. He achieved a life coaching certification from the Life Mastery Institute in Los Angeles in 2013. He holds many advanced certifications and trainings in different forms of manual and movement therapy including Myofascial Release Tom Myers method, Orthopedic Massage Dr. Ben Benjamin method, Oncology Massage, Cupping, Gua Sha, Kinesio Taping and much more.
As an Integrative Manual and Movement Therapist Drew specializes in Structural Integration. He helps create the balance between force transmission and strain distribution by re balancing the 12 myofascial meridians discovered by Tom Myers along the Anatomy Trains. Drew takes a unique approach with a thorough evaluation assessing the 12 Fascial Lines of pull, Computer analyzed Movement and Posture Screenings and Orthopedic Assessments to create custom treatment and training protocols. Drew focus’ on identifying the causes of structural, fascial, muscular and neurological imbalance to restore optimal performance. Drew’s technique focuses on utilizing Myofascial Release of the Myofascial Meridians and Mobility/Fascial Stretching drills to restore glide and movement to the whole fascial system. This approach brings balance to the Biotensegrity of our structure and function. Drew has worked with clients at the celebrity level, professional athletes, combat soldiers, clients with MS, Cerebral Palsy, TBI (traumatic brain injuries), Spasticity, Scoliosis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Cancer, Joint Replacements, degenerative discs, post-trauma injury and more. Providing the greatest quality care by continuing to stay current on the latest exercise science, manual and movement therapy techniques and myofascial research is his greatest professional passion.
